GOD IS OMNIPOTENT

 Mike Johnson

Do you know that God is omnipotent? Well, He is, which means He has ALL POWER.  Jeremiah 32:27 says, “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?” (NASB)

One way we see God’s power is due to the forces of nature being at his command.  We observe the control God has over nature at various times in both the Old and New Testaments.  Once God sent a flood to destroy most of mankind.  On another occasion, He prepared a great fish to swallow a person by the name of Jonah.  We can also read of the power  Jesus had over nature, as on one occasion, He calmed a raging sea (Mt. 8).

We also see God’s power in that He created all things.  Psalms 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork.” Observing creation should cause a person to conclude that things did not come into existence by accident but by the power of God.  God can speak things into existence.

On one occasion, Jesus said, “…with men it is impossible, for with God all things are possible.”  This statement emphasizes the point: GOD IS OMNIPOTENT!
