“A Familiar Face Is Missing”

Brian V. Sullivan

We grow accustomed to familiar ways,

As we each journey through life’s uncertain days.

A friendly smile, perhaps a kind greeting.

Make it worth our while to come to meeting.

There are some folks you know will always be there

With a warm smile and a genuine care

In their absence, there’s more than an empty pew

There’s someone missing that could encourage you.

A familiar face is missing today

Our beloved sister has gone on her way

Our tears and our sorrows we will lay aside

Remembering how she took life and death in stride

Our sister was one such noble soul, and more

Who put Christ first, as His influence she bore.

She talked to her family, neighbors and friends

Wanting them only with God to make amends

She willingly opened her home and her heart

Hosting meetings, studies and “singings” in part

She loved to talk Bible and knew the book well,

Warned others plainly of the dangers of hell.
