Reason For Our Hope

Pearl Pierson

Those loving eyes are closed in sleep;
Yet we have hope and do not weep
For him (her) who goes to dwell above
Where all is joy and peace and love.

That tongue, whose gentle kindly word
The eager little children heard,
Is quiet now, yet we rejoice
In hope again to hear that voice.

Those active hands no longer toil
Amid the rocky earthly soil;
We view the fruitage of their work,
And thank the Lord they did not shirk.

Those ready feet so quick to run
On errands here for everyone
Are now at rest, no more to roam.
A living soul has journeyed home.

We look above with hope secure
In Him whose Word is true and sure,
Eternal, endless in its scope.
We look to Christ in blessed hope.
